The countdown begins... I'm 9 (actually most likely 11) weeks away from meeting this little person that will undoubtedly change my life in ways that I could never imagine. I am not even sure where to begin to prepare! Haha! I keep thinking, "OhI have plenty of time..." but oh dear! That is not the case!!!
I realize that when I'm overwhelmed by something, I regrettably avoid thinking about it! Haha. At my last doctor's appointment he asked if I had any questions about labor and delivery. I couldn't think of a single one. Having never been through it before I'm sure there is a ton I don't know, and yet I can't think of a single thing to ask! Maybe at my next meeting I'll request for him to just tell me everything that way we cover all the bases?!!!
In regards to my last post, things are getting better. I am beginning to feel some anticipation. It's still weird for me to think about there actually being a little person on their way to our home. I still can't wrap my head around the thought that I will be a mother. When I try to reference this little person as "my daughter/child/baby," I can almost tangibly feel my mind pushing the awkward words to the corners of my mind. But I do have faith that this will not always be the case :).
I don't know for sure what is in store, but I do know one thing. I love and care for the people in my life fiercely. When it comes to this little lady, I will be no different! I will put her first, and do my very best to emulate the amazing example of my parents.
What did you and your spouse do to prepare emotionally/mentally for your little ones?

Look at you! I think my Cher bear might be getting a little excited? Ok, I wont go that far ;) HAH! Jokes! Anticipation is a really good word to use. Very descriptive!
I completely agree with you that because you are such a loving person, you will undoubtedly love this little girl like you love everyone else in your lofe. I dont think you have it in you to not love with all your heart! You are Cheri after all ;)
As for preparing..I cant give much advice. Its hard to prepare before baby showers, because you dont want to buy anything that you might get. Speaking of which...I need to contact Marci to get on that! 9 weeks! AHH!
I dont know how to prepare mentally for birth..all I know is by 40 weeks I want that thing out of me SO BAD I dont even think about the hospital or the birth part. Just pack a bag and start waiting! It will be here before you know it! Im so excited!
Ooh! Shan! I love thee! Speaking of hospital bags... what do I bring to the hospital? :)
This is my third pregnancy and it's the first time I've actually positively anticipated having an infant in our home.
Preparing for the arrival: um... I feel lucky when we get a crib up. Truly, you don't need much of anything. A place to sleep, a few feeding essentials, and a few bathing essentials.
Bring your own lounge wear to the hospital!!! With all the visitors it's so nice to be in something that looks less like a bag and more like you. It also, really helped me feel more like me a little bit sooner. And bring your own pillow. Plan on going home in maternity wear. I also brought a small amount of makeup and a hairdryer. Once again, I felt better seeing people when I felt somewhat normal.
